La Cantina de San Angel: Nachos

Over the weekend, we did some “music hopping”, and bounced between a few shows of Off Kilter and British Revolution. Of course, this was accompanied by a few Labatts and Mooseheads, so before heading over to the Magic Kingdom (and our stop for that awesome pre-MK Backscratcher), we decided to grab a snack. Since Matt has yet to try anything from La Cantina de San Angel, we decided it would be the perfect stop.

We went with the Nachos, which features tri-color corn tortilla chips topped with ground beef, nacho cheese, tomatoes, jalapenos, black beans and sour cream.

They were about what you expect from an order of quick-service nachos, but they really hit the spot. There was no shortage of toppings, either. The chips were fresh, the ground beef had a decent flavor, and who doesn’t love nacho cheese sauce?!

You can also choose between two different salsas at the condiment bar: Salsa Verde or Chipotle Salsa. Matt simply doesn’t care for Salsa Verde, and it is quite mild. The Chipotle Salsa had a little more heat and smoky flavor. While they both taste fine to me, they didn’t really benefit the nachos.

The nachos were a great afternoon snack, and controlled our appetites until dinner at MK later that night. At around $10, they’re not a bad deal, either. I can see this being a go-to snack for us, if we’re not over near Tangierine Café!

  1. Do you know if you can substitute beans for the beef to make this a vegetarian-friendly item?

  2. Since the nachos are served with black beans, I’m sure you could request the beef be replaced with extra black beans. Disney tends to be pretty accommodating with such requests, although I don’t know whether or not the beans are prepared in vegetarian manner.
