Today we’re taking a little side trip back over to Celebration Town Tavern to share some more dishes we haven’t tried before. We don’t typically make it to CTT on weekdays due to work, but with time off during the holidays, we were able to make it happen. They have a lunch menu that is served Monday through Friday from 11am until 3pm, and we both saw items that caught our eye. Matt was back and forth between the Twin Hot Dogs ($7) and the BLT ($9). Ultimately, he chose the Hot Dogs.
The dogs are all beef and served on New England split top hot dog buns. They are served with fries, and are nicely grilled. There’s a snap to the casing, which is a plus. These are just tasty dogs, plain and simple. Their fries are some of the best fries around.
I had seen a waitress walk by earlier with the BLT, and I tried to point it out to Matt, but he thought I was pointing to a massive tuna sandwich (which was also in contention with Matt for a bit). He totally missed it, but then my BLT arrived. His eyes got wide. Yeah, THAT’S what I was pointing at. I think he was jealous…
The BLTs here are served on Texas toast with a side of mayonnaise. The Texas toast didn’t really have any “toast” to it (Yes, I know it just means “thick bread”), which I find most BLTs come on bread that’s been toasted. I put a little bit of the mayonnaise on the bread, and for someone that doesn’t like mayo, theirs is quite good. It had a bit of sweetness, which I liked. There was so much bacon on this sandwich, that paired with the bread, it was almost impossible to get a bite. After a few bites, I decided to skip the extra carbs and went right to just eating the bacon. There must have been ten or twelve full slices on it, cooked too the perfect point between too soft and too crispy.
If you have time to grab a weekday lunch over at CTT, I highly recommend it. Heck, I highly recommend visiting any time, but if you want an awesome BLT, you know when to go!
