With family in town visiting, we had to make an obligatory trip to Epcot (as if we needed a reason to go there!). After a trip on El Rio del Tiempo, err, Gran Fiesta Tour in Mexico, I wanted to swing by La Cava del Tequila. It’s been a while since I was there, and since it had opened shortly before our voyage, it was still a bit quiet and we were able to grab a table.
First things first, we needed some drinks! I opted for the Blood Orange Margarita, which is a mix of El Mayor premium silver Tequila, orange liqueur, sweet-tart mix of blood orange juice and hibiscus syrup, topped with wild berry foam served on the rocks. The balance of this margarita had a perfect blend of sweet and sour flavors, and the wild berry foam was an interesting addition that grabbed attention.
My mom stuck with the Classic Margarita, a mix of El Mayor premium silver Tequila, orange liqueur and lime mix, served on the rocks with salt on the rim. She enjoyed the margarita, and I was very happy about that since she normally goes for the frozen ones from the stand outside.
My aunt ordered a Midnight Blue Margarita, a combination of 100% Agave Tequila Reposado, blue Curacao, fresh lime juice and agave nectar, served on the rocks with a hibiscus Himalayan salt rim. It’s hard to go wrong it a blue drink, with or without a glow cube involved!
We all loved our margaritas, but we also needed something to snack on while we relaxed. We ordered both the Queso con Jalapeno and Chips and Salsa. The Queso was a warm white cheese dip with jalapeno served with tortilla chips. While simple, it was one of those snacks that really hit the spot. It had a nice flavor and wasn’t too spicy.
The chips and salsa was also very good. The salsa had a smoky chipotle flavor with a some cilantro, and was perfect alongside our margaritas.
Needless to say, I won’t be waiting as long as last time for my next visit to La Cava del Tequila. With summer fast approaching, it will be a welcome retreat for some fantastic beverages, along with a quick snack until the ADR time arrives!
What is your favorite margarita from La Cava del Tequila?
