Sunshine Tree Terrace: Citrus Swirl

I promised on Sunday I’d be back with a review of the Citrus Swirl! A special thanks to Michael over at Progress City U.S.A for bringing its return to everyone’s attention at the beginning of the month. Until now, I’d only stopped by Sunshine Tree Terrace at the Magic Kingdom for a quick fountain soda. It’s currently under refurbishment, and the one area from which you can currently order shares a space with a window from Sorcerers of the Magic Kingdom.

While the Citrus Swirl hasn’t made the permanent menu yet, keep stopping in to order one to ensure it becomes a staple! Just because it’s got its own sign sitting on the counter doesn’t mean it can’t change, as we recently saw with the North Bay Smoothie at the Canada Beer Cart in Epcot.

The Citrus Swirl ($3.19) is served in your choice of cone or cup, and since it was rather warm out, we chose the cup. It had just made the counter and was already beginning to melt.

I spoke with a few people via Twitter on Saturday after having the Citrus Swirl, and I have to say I really enjoyed it. The vanilla soft serve wasn’t too sweet, and the tartness of the orange juice was refreshing and kept the dessert from feeling heavy. I also liked that the orange juice had some pulp to it. I really do hope this treat is here to stay, as I would like to order these on hot summer days, grab a table with an umbrella, and watch guests get spit on by the camel on The Magic Carpets of Aladdin. Yes, that’s exactly what we did. ;)

If you’ve had the opportunity to try a Citrus Swirl, what did you think? Would you still prefer a Dole Whip or Dole Whip Float over one?

  1. So good. They need to speed up the service though. Waited 20 minutes recently. Or get another counter with same drinks.

  2. Fortunately, I was the only person in line when I ordered, so they moved quickly. Once the refurb is done, there will be more windows and hopefully faster service in general.
