Since the start of this blog just over a year ago, I’ve really started to expand my horizons when it comes to sweets, especially over the past few months. I’ve actually grown to like chocolate, and look forward to sampling new items. Well, at least they’re new to me as I’ve been avoiding them for most of my life.
Candy Cauldron at Downtown Disney now beckons me to stop in and pick out something to bring home. This visit, it was a Mickey Peanut Butter Cup ($4.95).
The cups are available in white or milk chocolate, and are topped with a dark chocolate Mickey medallion.
The is a nice ratio of peanut butter to milk chocolate, pairing the salty and savory flavors well. The peanut butter is silky, while the chocolate has a snap to it. The contrasting textures make this different from a Reese’s. The milk chocolate isn’t overly sweet, either, and the dark chocolate adds a touch of bitterness to help balance all the flavors.
While it’s a fair-sized sweet and quite good, the price is a bit steep for a single candy. There are about 6 bites to this treat, and for the same price you can get a much larger Mickey Rice Krispy Treat Bar. It’s all a matter of personal preference. I love peanut butter, so it was worth it for me. The quality of the chocolate and peanut butter was high, so I didn’t feel like it was overpriced, and I’d be willing to splurge on one again.
Have you tried the Mickey Peanut Butter Cup? Did you choose white or milk chocolate, and what did you think of it?

This makes the perfect gift for people at home- if it makes it home, that is!
never had one. going to now though! Thanks for the review!
Never tried… Need to try now… Sounds and looks yummy!!
prttynpnk – That’s a big “IF!”
Sabrina – If you’re a fan of peanut butter cups, you’ll likely love it!
Ricardo – Definitely worth adding to your list!
I have to admit that I tend to shy away from Disney’s candy store offerings. I’m not the world’s biggest chocolate fan and I just assume that the sweets will look better than they taste. I have tasted one of the peanut butter cups, though. It was good, but I thought it was a little too much chocolate. I was glad I had someone with whom I could share it.
