Polynesian Resort’s Barefoot Pool Bar

One of my favorite resorts on property is the Polynesian. And no, not just because of Tambu Lounge. As a Parrothead who loves the South Seas theme of the resort, I feel right at home. One of the biggest features of the resort is the beautiful pool area. Replicating a volcano, it certainly grabs the attention of those walking by.

Tucked away into the side, however, is Barefoot Pool Bar.

In the summer months, this bar definitely draws a crowd from beach bums and resort relaxers alike.

While the menu is nothing out of the ordinary, it does have a pretty nice view. Beyond the beach, you can see the Contemporary, Bay Lake Tower, Space Mountain, and Cinderella Castle. It’s a fantastic place to grab a drink and watch Wishes from the beach at the end of the night!

  1. I haven’t spent nearly enough time at the Polynesian. When we’re there, we usually just browse the gift shop in the Grand Ceremonial House before or after a meal at the Kona Café. Once or twice we’ve walked the beach from the Grand Floridian to the Polynesian, but that’s it. I definitely need to remedy that with visits to the Tambu Lounge, Captain Cook’s and the Barefoot Pool Bar at the very least. I think I may like the Caribbean Limeade listed on the menu there.

Also, I never knew you were a Parrothead. Have you always been or did that come after moving to Florida? I didn’t meet many of them in the Northeast, but I know many Floridians who love his music. I always associate Old Key West with that Jimmy Buffett lifestyle. It’s interesting that the Polynesian is the same for you.

  2. The Caribbean Limeade is fantastic! Definitely order one up one your visit! And be sure to spend some time and grab an appetizer at Tambu Lounge.

I’ve been a Parrothead for years, long before moving to Florida. I used to belong to the Washington Area Parrot Head Club when I lived in the DC area. And I don’t think either of my parents could stand his music! OKW is definitely more associative to JB, but that whole tiki feel does it for me too!

  3. I had no idea you are a Parrothead!! I am not, myself, but my aunt and uncle are, and it is such a wonderful community. They have a ton of fun but also do a lot of good, charitable works.

  4. That they do! I haven’t joined the local chapter since moving here (although I was briefly in the Orlando Jeep Club), but I do support their efforts! They really do a lot for the community and environment.
