Celebration’s First Food Truck Friday

Celebration, FL hosted its very first Food Truck Friday on August 10th, something I’ve been waiting for the town to do for quite some time! Several of Orlando’s trucks were in attendance, each bringing in the crowds, and with it, lines as well. We had our first taste of Orlando’s Food Trucks, Tree House Truck and Twisted Cuban, a couple months ago during Car Masters weekend at Downtown Disney, so we were long overdue to enjoy some new ones.

One of the trucks I was looking forward to was Dixieland Diner, which serves up Louisiana Cajun food.

The event started at 5pm, and by the time we arrived at 6pm, they were already out of Watermelon &Tomato Salad, which would have been very refreshing in the humidity. I decided to order the Boudin Fritters.

The fritters were very good, served piping hot with a Creole Mustard Sauce.

The fritters has a nice, crisp coating and soft interior that paired well with the mustard.

Matt ordered from City Eats food truck and got their Bourbon Sliders. The pulled pork sliders came topped with slaw and a side of potato salad.

The “slaw” didn’t seem to have any dressing to it – just shredded cabbage and carrots.

The pulled pork was greatly overseasoned with cinnamon. I took one bite and was not impressed. The flavor was so overpowering that Matt couldn’t even finish the second slider.

The potato salad had way too much mustard for Matt as he’s not a fan of it. Even after a few bites, it’s all I could taste. I love mustard, but even this was too much for me.

Celebration will be hosting its next event on September 14th at Town Hall, located at 851 Celebration Ave. in Celebration, FL. We look forward to going back and trying more of the trucks!

Have you tried the offerings from Dixieland Diner or City Eats? Let us know what you thought!

  1. I haven’t eaten at either Dixieland or City Eats… but this just got me thinking that this is becoming quite the trend… I had heard about these food truck gatherings in the west coast a few years ago and thought that was really a good idea… Houston had its second annual festival a few months ago. Unfortunately I didn’t get to go but I heard it was really good.

  2. The past several years have really seen a food truck upswing in Orlando, and the gatherings really garner a lot of people! All of the previous events were a bit of a hike from home base, so I’m very happy to have one in Celebration, just off Disney property!
