Well, this comment on the screen was appropriate for our recent movie watching experience!
Last week, we headed over to AMC Theatres to watch a RiffTrax performance of Manos: The Hands of Fate. Since we didn’t eat dinner after work and before the movie, we grabbed some hot food to bring into the theater with us.
Since we were looking for something a bit more substantial, Matt decided to order the Philly Loaded Nachos. The tortilla chips came topped with steak, cheese sauce, jalapenos, and fried onions.
The nachos were pretty much what Matt expected by way of movie theater junk food. They were filling, but in retrospect, he thought that the waffle fries would have been a better option than the chips for the topping.
I ordered the Chili and Cheese Loaded Waffle Fries. The fries were cooked fresh order and held the chili and cheese well.
After a little while, the fries did start to absorb the chili, so a fork was necessary for consuming them. Again, the toppings were pretty standard, but good. Neither of us could finish all the food.
Of course, we did save room for popcorn! Matt likes the fact that you can top it yourself with butter.
Overall, we had a great experience between the snacks and the movie. What do you like to order from AMC Theatres? Do you get the hot foods, ice cream, or stick to the basics of popcorn and candy?

I don’t think nachos are a food I can eat in the dark without making a mess, so props!
Did you save any for Torgo?
I don’t like to get anything at the movies that crunches, slurps, jangles or crinkles. Icees, chips, cellophane-wrapped candy and fountain drinks are all out. I usually bring bottled water and gummy candy, but those waffle fries look like a good idea too.
Sean – It was definitely a bit tricky to do!
David – The Master would not approve…
Melissa – The waffle fries were definitely quiet!
When we went to AMC DTD to see Ice Age, I bought the bleu cheese hot dog…and it was DIVINE. Loved every single bite of it. It was a hot dog topped with bleu cheese dressing, bacon, chunks of bleu cheese and a spicy mustard. A little hard to eat in the movie theater, but it came in a decent container so anything loose just fell back into the container and I ate it with a fork.
Kelly – I saw that on the menu and thought it would be an interesting eat! Maybe I’ll grab one on my next visit. Thanks for the mini-review!
Ah man, I forgot about Manos/Rifftrax last weekend – argh! One of my favourite worst movies!
Jasmine – It was hilarious! I was laughing so hard that my stomach muscles got quite the workout! There was a great turnout and the audience loved every minute.
All I usually need at the movies is a bottle of water, but the waffle fries do look very interesting… and if they’re “quiet”, even better!
