Raglan Road at Downtown Disney has an atmosphere that can really transport you, much like Rose & Crown in the UK pavilion at Epcot. Beginning today at 5pm through Labor Day, they’ll be hosting The Great Irish Hooley, a traditional Irish social celebration, and, according to the website, the first such festival for Central Florida.
Should you find yourself there either this weekend or at any other time, I highly recommend stopping in for a delicious draft beer and some of their awesome food. This particular visit, I enjoyed a Miller Lite. Yes, I know. I’m a horrible person for ordering such swill when they have such a wonderful selection available. Here is the selection from their Hole in the Wall bar, tucked away in between the main entrance to the restaurant and Cookes of Dublin:
Note: Hole in the Wall, the outdoor bar, has a daily Happy Hour from 3-7pm and offers $2 off their draft beers. This beer, inside, was $6.
I wanted something light and a bit different from appetizers you typically find in pubs, so I ordered their Tart Art ($10). The dish is a combination of asparagus and goat cheese with garden peas, leeks, and lemon oil dressed arugula.
The tart filling was rich with goat cheese but mellowed by the bright asparagus and peas. If you’ve never had goat cheese, the variety Raglan Road used did not have an overbearing tart flavor. The leeks were melted down, adding a subtle bite of onion, all tucked into a flaky pastry crust. The arugula was lightly dressed and brought with it a peppery bite.
As a meal, this would be a decadent choice despite being around 5″ in diameter. I enjoyed a small wedge and brought the remainder home to share with Matt as a side with dinner. Needless to say, it was a hit with him too! It would definitely be a great choice as a predecessor to a full meal here, or just something to nosh on over a round or two of beers. I’d happily order the Tart Art again.
Have you tried Raglan Road’s Tart Art? Which appetizer(s) do you like to order when you visit?

Wish I could be there today!!
I have been to Raglan Road but have not tried their Tart Art…. it sounds interesting though…
Yesterday I went to a local Irish pub for happy hour and got to have some stouts! I hope to go to another one this weekend!
Sláinte!!!
I love going to Irish pubs! We’re planning on having dinner at one of the local ones tonight ourselves. I hope you get to enjoy more Irish fun this weekend!
One of the BEST appetizers I’ve ever had anywhere was at Raglan Road – the Smokie City. Smoked haddock in a lovely, velvety cheese sauce with potatoes, served with bread. I could eat it every single day.
I’m not a big fan of fish, primarily cooked, but you make it sound very appetizing!
