House of Blues’ Blazin’ Skulls Hot Sauce

At the House of Blues Company Store at Downtown Disney Westside, among all the t-shirts, you can find a couple bottles of hot sauce. One of their branded ones is Blazin’ Skulls Hot Sauce. Taking a look at the ingredient list, which features red Savina and red habanero peppers, I knew this would be a good option to bring home and doctor up some food.

When I buy hot sauces, of course I like to have flavor, but I also love to have some serious heat. I sampled a bit straight from the bottle, and the ingredients apart from the peppers in this hot sauce certainly help bring that flavor without diluting the spice. We decided to put together a quick batch of jambalaya on which to try this sauce.

Along with the hot sauce, we added a few grinds of Pirate’s Bite from The Spice & Tea Exchange, which you can find in Mickey’s Pantry at Downtown Disney Marketplace.

The hot sauce is a bit thick coming out of the bottle, and I believe that’s due to some of the carrots or onions not being completely blended. Not a bad thing to have some texture, but you do have to work a bit to get decent amount.

After getting my share of hot sauce, I stirred it in. The heat from the sauce built (along with the Pirate’s Bite), and left a good burn on my lips. It was certainly a good purchase for us, and a great addition to the jambalaya. I’m looking forward to trying it on some other dishes that need some heat soon!

Have you tried the Blazin’ Skulls Hot Sauce, or their milder Bayou Heat? Let us know what you like to dash it on!

  1. I’m not big on hot sauces… but this seems like something I’d buy for a few friends of mine. They have to have hot sauce on almost everything they eat!

  2. They might like this sauce then. Much better than your typical Tabasco or Texas Pete as it has some more depth to its flavor.
