A few weeks ago, I took a brief trip to Ale and Compass Lounge at the Yacht Club. I needed to leave sooner than I had anticipated, so on a recent stay there, Matt and I both got to stop by and I was able to try another item from their menu.
We just needed a light snack, so we decided to give the Buffalo Chicken Nuggets a try. As I had mentioned in my previous post, the menu here is the same as the one served at Crew’s Cup Lounge next to Yachtsman Steakhouse.
While I didn’t count the number of nuggets received, you can see there was a fair number of hearty pieces. They also appeared to be coated well enough to give a bit of heat without being overwhelming.
The nuggets themselves were tender, and the sauce to breading to chicken ratio worked well. While I prefer foods like this to be really spicy, these were likely a good option for those who prefer a little bit of heat without it being overwhelming. They were more on the side of flavorful than pure heat.
The nuggets came with a side of blue cheese dressing, for which I really have no use.
The nuggets were pretty much as expected, but were one of those items that hit the spot. It’s definitely a snack worth ordering again, although I’m still interested in a trying a few more items from the menu. If you find yourself at Ale and Compass (or Crew’s Cup, for that matter) and aren’t much of a seafood fan, these are worth keeping on your snacking radar!
Let us know of your favorite items from the menu, or those you’d like to try!

The carrot sticks pique my interest more than anything else on the plate. Nearly everything else on the menu sounds great, though! I’d like to try the lobster sliders or the braised mussels and clams.
I usually don’t order things like buffalo chicken nuggets (or boneless buffalo wings) because they always seem to be more breading than chicken but these look pretty good. Question about the dressing, did it have chunks of blue cheese in it? I love chunky blue cheese dressing but smooth I usually only eat if I’m desperate. LOL.
Melissa – I’d like to try the sliders too, but the term “lobster salad” is a huge red flag to me!
Cherry – I didn’t touch the blue cheese dressing, but it didn’t appear to be chunky.
Not really the topic of the post – but I have had both the lobster sliders & the braised mussels/clams and can attest that both are excellent. The lobster salad in the sliders is really good. Not too terribly much filler – just a little chopped celery & a little mayo. They are served on good little soft rolls.
I might have to give those rolls a try! Having lived in Maine for 10 years, I’m a bit opinionated about lobster roll-type things!
