A Fresh Look at the New Boulangerie Patisserie

When the new Boulangerie Patisserie opened a few weeks ago in France’s Epcot, I headed over to check out the new digs. Matt didn’t get to partake, so I just grabbed a bowl of Bisque de Homard, but I knew I had to get him there!

Matt’s eyes grew a bit wide looking at the selections available. He started with the Dinde BLT, a baguette filled with turkey, bacon, lettuce tomato and garlic aioli. The sandwich is served cold, which is fine, but the bacon was also cold, limp and was a bit disappointing because of  that. The garlic aioli tasted to Matt to be mustard, which he doesn’t like. Otherwise, the bread and veggies were fresh, and there was a good amount of turkey on the sandwich. If I needed a filling sandwich, I would order it for myself, but it wouldn’t be Matt’s top pick. We didn’t let this go to waste, as I brought it home and was able to snack on it.

He also spotted the Tartes on display and ordered the Fraises featuring vanilla cream topped with strawberries. This was nothing short of fantastic. Not overly sweet, rich, and “healthy” thanks to the strawberries. ;) I was even impressed, not being big on sweets. None of this was left! I think it’s safe to say this dessert is enough reason for Matt to return.

I ordered the Quiche Florentine, a spinach and goat cheese quiche. The round pat in the center is the goat cheese, so you can add as much to each bite of quiche as you like. The cast member asked if I wanted it toasted, to which I said, “yes.” While the exterior warmed up nicely, the center remained quite cool. There was a good amount of spinach tucked inside. While the crust was a bit bland, the filling was really nice, and I’ll certainly order this again.

The Roulé Au Fromage, baguette roll with garlic and cheese, caught our eye as well. This was another item that could be toasted. It was piping hot and was my favorite item of the day! Warm, garlicky, cheesy bread… How can you go wrong? We didn’t completely finish this either, but only because we didn’t want to stuff ourselves. We tucked it into the bag with the Dinde BLT and brought it home as well.

Matt was impressed with the new layout and offerings, and with the additional space, I can see us stopping by more often than the old space. If I want a Roulé Au Fromage, I know all I have to do is mention the strawberry tart and we’ll be in line! Boulangerie Patisserie has earned yet another fan.

  1. I’ve had their quiche in the past and I remember it being really tasty. Last month I tried the tarte aux fraises and I agree with you, it was delicious! The roulé au fromage, I have to say, I hadn’t even noticed it in the menu… But it does sound really interesting.

  2. The Roule was soooo good! I need to learn how to make them at home. :)

  3. We had the Dinde BLT and chocolate eclair during the Marathon weekend – good enough to go back. The other week we had the apple tart – very good, the apples were more like spiced applesauce… definitely would get again – not too sweet.

  4. The apple tart sounds fantastic to me if it tastes like applesauce! :)

  5. Everything looks delicious! I’m definitely going to try the Quiche Florentine when I go to WDW in May.

  6. Andrew – It’s almost overwhelming looking at all the options available! Your eyes keep darting around the displays trying to decide. I’m sure you’ll love it!
