This review is 100% thanks to Matt. Without him and his enjoyment of tuna salad, this review would not have been possible! Earl of Sandwich’s Tuna Melt is simple – albacore tuna salad and melted Swiss cheese.
Matt typically isn’t a fan of Swiss cheese, but he didn’t seem to mind it on this sandwich. He would have preferred American. It had melted a good amount, though some areas weren’t quite as stretchy. He likes a good amount of mayonnaise in tuna salad, so this fairly wet version was perfect for him. I was going to try to take a bite and got it about two inches from my face, but couldn’t go through with it. The smell and heat combined radiating from the sandwich made me ill. Sorry folks, but I didn’t want to have a protein spill in the middle of the restaurant. We ordered it, I attempted to try it, and I’m going to call that, “close enough.”
The Loaded Potato Soup, however, is a completely different story! The soup is relatively smooth with some good chunks of potato. It had a comfort food taste to it, and with the cooler weather finally creeping into central Florida, I’m looking forward to more soup here!
And of course, you can’t forget your side of toasted bread for dipping into said soup!
Overall, if Matt was in the mood for tuna salad, he’d have no problem ordering Tuna Melt again, but he might skip the Swiss. We both enjoyed the soup and would definitely order it again. We’ve still got a few visits left to get through the checklist, so I think we’ll be seeing more soup to go with our sandwiches as well!
