Disney’s Spirit of Aloha Dinner Show

It’s been around 6 years since I last visited Disney’s Spirit of Aloha Dinner Show. Matt had never been to it, so before the rainy season comes at us full force, and the Florida humidity weighs us down to much, it was time for a visit! If you’re unfamiliar with the Spirit of Aloha Dinner Show, here is the description from the Walt Disney World website:

Celebrate the spirit of aloha with spellbinding dancers, drummers and a show-stopping fire-knife performer.

Auntie Wini is hosting a fun-filled luau to welcome home one of the local girls who has been living on the “mainland”—and you’re invited!

In the open-air theater in Luau Cove, delight in enthralling traditions from Polynesia, including dances from Tahiti, Samoa, Tonga, New Zealand and Hawaii.

We’ve got some pictures of the show itself, but let’s get started with the food!

These were smaller versions of what you will find served at ‘Ohana and Kona Cafe; a slightly sweet bread that pairs well with savory butter. I need to make this recipe at home soon.

Dinner at Rose & Crown

Last summer, Matt and I stopped by Rose & Crown Dining Room for lunch. We recently had an opportunity to return for dinner. After a bit of debate on whether to order something new or not, he stuck with the item he last enjoyed: The Cottage Pie. The pie is a combination of ground beef, onions, carrots, mushrooms, creamy mashed potatoes and Irish cheddar.

Breakfast at Sassagoula Floatworks and Food Factory

Sassagoula Floatworks and Food Factory at Port Orleans French Quarter serves typical Disney resort breakfast fare in its quick service setting. Here you’ll find a assorted pastries, beignets, Mickey waffles, pancakes and breakfast platters. Plus you get to dine in a nightmare-inducing atmosphere inspired by Mardi Gras. This is my least favorite quick service based on decor alone.

Matt wasn’t too hungry, but needed something in his stomach to hold him until lunch. He grabbed a piece of crumb cake from the bakery.

Cookes of Dublin’s Beef & Lamb Dublin Style Pie

I haven’t been to Cookes of Dublin at Downtown Disney in a while, primarily because it always seems to be an ordeal to place an order, and if you’re dining in, seating can get tight, even with outdoor tables and chairs available. I’ve stopped by in the past for one of the Battered Burger & Chips along with Onion Rings and Irish Vintage Cheddar and Bacon Dip, and have even grabbed their Sweet & Spicy Wings to go. One item that I had yet to try was one of their Dublin Style Pies. Available in Chicken and Field Mushroom or Beef and Lamb, they are baked fresh daily and subject to availability. I was fortunate enough to get the las available Beef and Lamb.
