Disneyland’s Chicken of the Sea Pirate Ship and Restaurant

Between Matt and me, we have numerous Disney cookbooks, including Food & Wine Festival ones. But some of the more interesting ones don’t just contain recipes; they contain historical information from the parks. Today’s comes from Disneyland and it’s former Chicken of the Sea Pirate Ship Restaurant, found in Chef Mickey: Treasures from the Vault & Delicious New Favorites by Pam Brandon.

Rainforest Cafe in the Late 90s

I LOVED visiting Rainforest Cafe when I was a kid. Heck, I still enjoy the place! While it doesn’t have the same lure to me as Margaritaville, I am drawn in if nothing more than to check out the merchandise. Gotta see Cha-Cha the frog! Here are some pics I took back in the late 90s. My favorite drink was the Monty’s Python! Yes, I am indeed a fan of the show. :)

Teppanyaki Dining Room in the Late 90′s

In Epcot’s Japan, back before it was refurbished and renamed Teppan Edo in 2007, the teppanyaki restaurant was known as Teppanyaki Dining Room since opening day. I recently found some pictures of the restaurant taken in the late 90s, and I wanted to share them with you. Apparently, I”ve been taking food photos for around 15 years, back in the days of 35mm film! Enjoy, and have a great weekend!

Disney History: Disneyland’s Space Bar

While flipping through Chef Mickey: Treasures from the Vault & Delicious New Favorites the other day, I saw these great pics from Disneyland featuring the Space Bar. No, not that kind of bar! Check out the prices, and have a great weekend!

Tom & Jerry… At Disney-MGM Studios

During our recent move, I found some photos taken around 20 years ago. While today’s post isn’t truly about food, the photos are at least taken outside of Studio Catering Company in the then Disney-MGM Studios! See the Studios trash can and Honey I Shrunk the Kids Playground? This was taken around May of 1992. Pardon my sister Kristina’s and my – well, just “my” in these pics – lack of fashion (as if either of us have any now!). Oh yeah, and the REAL kicker here is… What the heck are Tom and Jerry doing in the Studios?!

So I ask the Parkeologists and Disney fans who may remember the duo being in the Studios, please share your memories and research in the comments below! Matt is pretty confident that it was just two guys in suits that hopped out of a van and visited the parks… Please tell me it isn’t so! :)
