Drinks at Tambu Lounge

Tambu Lounge at the Polynesian resort serves up several tropical cocktails, and we have long been fans of visiting before a trip to Magic Kingdom, taking a mid-day break, or grabbing a drink to watch Wishes from the resort’s beach. We’re no strangers to the Backscratcher, Blue Hawaii and Tropical Macaw, but one cocktail I’ve recently wanted to try that I surprisingly had not was the Lapu Lapu.

The Lapu Lapu features Myer’s Original Dark Rum and Tropical Fruit Juices served in a fresh pineapple topped with Bacardi 151 Rum. Much like we order our Backscratchers without the actual backscratcher, I really didn’t need the drink to served in the shrink-wrapped pineapple. As fun as it is, I was interested in the cocktail, so I requested a regular glass. But even that regular glass is still fun!

Jiko’s Za’atar-Rubbed Lamb Wood-Fired Flatbread

One thing I love about many of the table service restaurants on Disney property is their seasonal menus. One thing that can drive me a bit batty is said seasonal menus. I love being able to be surprised by something new, but sometimes miss out on something I spot on a menu one day, only to have it disappear on my next visit. One of those items that likes to get reinvented is the flatbread.

Jiko in particular has some really fantastic wood-fired flatbreads. During my last visit, I tried their Buffalo and Pork Boerewors Sausage version. Currently there are three flatbreads available: Za’atar-rubbed Lamb, KG’s Peri-Peri Roasted Chicken and Roasted Kubota Squash and Kalamata Olive. The Za’atar-rubbed lamb is one of the options that has stood out to me for a while, and I knew I had to get over to Jiko soon to give it a try.

Sanaa’s New Menu and Lamb Kefta Sliders

A few days ago, our friend Shalon headed over to Sanaa and was kind enough to share pictures of the new dinner menu. I was interested in checking it out myself, so I headed over to their lounge to try one of the new items. I was a fan of their Lamb Kefta Kebabs from their previous menu, and was curious as to how the new sliders would be.

Here’s a look at the Lamb Kefta Kebabs that were previously served. They came with a mint chutney and sliced carrots that were prepared in a spicy sauce. Delicious!

The new sliders feature goat cheese, piquante peppers, and pickled shallots.

50′s Prime Time Cafe’s Fried Herb and Garlic Cheese

50′s Prime Time Cafe Fried Herb and Garlic Cheese was an item served several years ago at the restaurant, disappeared, and has returned. Herb & Garlic Boursin cheese is breaded, fried and served warm with Raspberry Sauce and Toasted French Bread. Apple slices and grapes also accompany the appetizer.

Vero Beach Resort: The Green Cabin Room’s Crispy Pork Wings

Disney’s Vero Beach Resort, located in, you guessed it, Vero Beach, Florida is host to a few restaurants, including the second floor lounge, The Green Cabin Room.

The lounge has both in and outdoor seating, with the patio overlooking the Atlantic Ocean.

We’ve dined at The Green Cabin Room once before a few years ago and wasn’t impressed, unlike a simple lunch I enjoyed at Shutters, another of the resort’s restaurants, last year (lunch is served seasonally). Looking over the menu, a number of items sounded good for a quick snack, but one item jumped to our attention: Crispy Pork Wings.

Pork. Wings. We had to order these. They are a trimmed pork shank glazed with a Sweet Thai Ginger Barbecue Sauce.
