Radiated Tortoises Have to Eat, Too!

Before our lunch at Sanaa last weekend, we were able to spend some time watching all of the animals roaming the Sunset Savanna at Kidani Village. It was fun to see the zebras chase each other, and the giraffes stride across the grass, but it was a pair of Radiated Tortoises enjoying lunch that really grabbed my attention!

We’re Going to Disney World!

Enchanted Tiki Room Birdmobile: October 1977 and September 2010/11

I love the Enchanted Tiki Room. LOVE. In fact, I only saw the “Under New Management” for the first time (as I believe – otherwise I pushed that memory out of my head) last summer. I just refused to see it until then. It was shortly before my (and Matt’s) first trip to Disneyland. Needless to say, I needed to cleanse my brain of that monstrosity from the Magic Kingdom and experienced the original. I think I took more pictures in that Disneyland attraction than any other. When UNM caught on fire and the rumors started swarming that a more original version would be returning, I was beside myself. And, this is also my first Disney history post to feature both coasts!

Here’s a poorly shot picture from October, 1977 from MK. Looks like someone used a flash! (Not me; I wasn’t around for another 5 years!)

Next we have a photo I took at Disneyland in September of 2010.

And here we have my beloved restored Tiki Room in the Magic Kingdom.

I’ll admit, I got a bit verklempt when I saw the refurbished attraction. It was too good to be true! If you’d like to see the video I took, you can find it here (along with lots of other Disney vids!). Please forgive my seemingly forever filming of the window – I was having difficulty recalling when exactly the storm started! Have a great weekend, everyone!

Dave and Buster’s Orlando

Last Monday brought with it the opening of Dave & Buster’s in Orlando. After spending a hot Saturday at Epcot, Matt and I decided to spend our Sunday afternoon enjoying some video games in air-conditioned comfort.

We arrived and parked, and note that the spaces are quite narrow. Had we known, we likely would have opted to take the Wrangler, the smaller of our vehicles. We saw one parked there and it took up a good portion of the space. That can be a bit unnerving knowing how careless people can be, and we don’t want dings on our doors.

Troubadour Tavern: October 1977

I love this picture! It was taken in October ’77, several years before I was even a twinkle in my dad’s eye. Mickey is freaky, as is my mom’s perm. And you thought MY fashion sense as a teen was lacking! Anyway, you can see Troubadour Tavern in the background. Still, not really a tavern, but a fun photo nonetheless!

Okay, off to property for research! I’ve got a bunch of stuff waiting in the wings!
