The Artist’s Palette’s Cheeseburger Flatbread

It had been a while since I stopped by Saratoga Springs, and my last visit to their quick service restaurant, The Artist’s Palette, was for breakfast. There, I enjoyed a funky-looking but tasty Breakfast Flatbread. I decided to stop in for lunch, as there was a Lobster Club Sandwich that sounded interesting, despite my fears of lobster salad preparation on property. Once I arrived, however, I saw a Cheeseburger Flatbread on the menu.

Old Port Royale’s Jerk Chicken Sandwich

Old Port Royale at Caribbean Beach Resort is a quick service location with several stations from which you can choose. They serve breakfast, lunch and dinner, and while their menu options are relatively standard to what you’ll find across WDW property, some items are served with a Caribbean flare. Of the stations, you’ll find Montego’s Deli, Bridgetown Broiler (which was closed until dinner), Old Port Royale Hamburger Shop and Royale Pizza and Pasta Shop.

After some studying of the menus, I headed to the Hamburger Shop and ordered the Jerk Chicken Sandwich. The sandwich is topped with Crispy Onions, Chipotle Sauce, Swiss and is served with a choice of Pasta Salad or French Fries. The default option here is fries, and I wasn’t offered a choice and neglected to request the pasta salad when I ordered.

Disney’s Spirit of Aloha Dinner Show

It’s been around 6 years since I last visited Disney’s Spirit of Aloha Dinner Show. Matt had never been to it, so before the rainy season comes at us full force, and the Florida humidity weighs us down to much, it was time for a visit! If you’re unfamiliar with the Spirit of Aloha Dinner Show, here is the description from the Walt Disney World website:

Celebrate the spirit of aloha with spellbinding dancers, drummers and a show-stopping fire-knife performer.

Auntie Wini is hosting a fun-filled luau to welcome home one of the local girls who has been living on the “mainland”—and you’re invited!

In the open-air theater in Luau Cove, delight in enthralling traditions from Polynesia, including dances from Tahiti, Samoa, Tonga, New Zealand and Hawaii.

We’ve got some pictures of the show itself, but let’s get started with the food!

These were smaller versions of what you will find served at ‘Ohana and Kona Cafe; a slightly sweet bread that pairs well with savory butter. I need to make this recipe at home soon.

Disney’s Minute Maid Frozen Lemonade

Minute Maid Frozen Lemonade can be found at numerous locations on WDW property. They run around $4, and you can find them in some of the parks with the addition of alcohol. Matt happened to order this one from Columbia Harbour House. Having tried a Frozen Bacardi Raspberry Rum Lemonade from Dino Diner in Animal Kingdom before, I knew what he was about to drink.

Drinks at Tambu Lounge

Tambu Lounge at the Polynesian resort serves up several tropical cocktails, and we have long been fans of visiting before a trip to Magic Kingdom, taking a mid-day break, or grabbing a drink to watch Wishes from the resort’s beach. We’re no strangers to the Backscratcher, Blue Hawaii and Tropical Macaw, but one cocktail I’ve recently wanted to try that I surprisingly had not was the Lapu Lapu.

The Lapu Lapu features Myer’s Original Dark Rum and Tropical Fruit Juices served in a fresh pineapple topped with Bacardi 151 Rum. Much like we order our Backscratchers without the actual backscratcher, I really didn’t need the drink to served in the shrink-wrapped pineapple. As fun as it is, I was interested in the cocktail, so I requested a regular glass. But even that regular glass is still fun!
