Dinner at Splitsville

It’s been a while since I’ve ordered food at Splitsville at Downtown Disney. My first experience was far from memorable (at least from a “good” vantage point), and apart from cocktails at the outside bar, Matt had yet to try it for himself. With technical difficulties at the food trucks, we stopped in to get out of the cold and order some dinner.

For his meal, Matt ordered the Juicy Lucy. The burger consists of “two fresh burger patties smothered with cheese and topped with special sauce. Respect the Cheese!” Splitsville’s burgers and sandwiches are served with fries, and burgers are topped with lettuce, tomato, pickle and onion. Matt asked them to hold the lettuce. Pickles came on the side.

Quick Bite: D23 Member Mixer at House of Blues

At the beginning of the month, D23 held a Member Mixer at House of Blues. Matt and I stopped by for it, fashionably late due to work (and I apologize for the iPhone pics – didn’t bring the real camera!), and were quite hungry upon arrival. While food was not covered by D23, members do receive 15% off their food purchase. Jim MacPhee, Jeffrey Epstein, and George Kalogridis were there, and we were able to speak for a few moments with George. Really nice guy, but on to the food! I haven’t been to House of Blues since last summer when I tried the Bay Shrimp and Avocado Street Tacos.

There were a few items that stood out to Matt, but he made a game-time decision and ordered The Heat Seeker – a burger featuring a Certified Angus beef patty topped with pulled pork, pickled jalapeño peppers, buffalo sauce, Pepper Jack cheese on a brioche bun. This choice surprised me a bit, as while he does like pulled pork, and a pulled pork-topped burger wouldn’t be a stretch, he doesn’t typically go after items with a lot of spicy elements like I do. Oh, and the canned beer was brought in from the patio bar – they serve beer in bottles (no draft) in the restaurant.

Olivia’s Cafe at Old Key West

I hope everyone had a great holiday and were able to stay of the naughty list! Matt and I managed I stay on the nice side of it, so Santa was good to us both. Being able to have some time off from the 9-5 certainly allows for some quality property time! The other day, I took the opportunity to visit Old Key West and have lunch at Olivia’s Cafe.
