Sassagoula Floatworks: Gumbo

Sassagoula Floatworks and Food Factory at Port Orleans French Quarter serves up a handful of southern favorites, such as jambalaya and beignets, as well as more standard menu items such as burgers and salads. I stopped by to try a cup of their gumbo to see how it compared to the version served at the nearby River Roost at Port Orleans French Quarter (and presumably is the same version served at its adjacent Boatwrights Dining Hall)

Festival of the Masters: Portobello

The weekend brought with it Festival of the Masters at Downtown Disney, and apart from some beautiful artwork, some of the restaurants had booths set up for hungry guests. While the sliders at Portobello have been around for well over a year now, I have not been to the restaurant to sample them. In fact, I have yet to eat at the restaurant. When I saw the kiosk set up featuring the sliders (cash only), I hit up the ATM so I could finally give them a try.

Habaneros Mexican Grill

Habaneros Mexican Grill opened in Hunter’s Creek recently, so Matt and I decided to check it out. Located in a former Village Inn next to Ale House, some rehabbing had been done. Immediately upon entering, I noticed the bar. It reminded me of the one at T-Rex Café at Downtown Disney: illuminated, color-changing clear acrylic. Very trendy looking, but the remainder of the restaurant had the old pastel peach and aqua booth seating. We grabbed seats at the bar. I inquired about ordering a pitcher of beer, but I was informed they only offer pitchers of margaritas or sangria. D’oh! I took a look at the taps and saw they didn’t have Miller Lite, we ordered Bud Lights instead. They do sell some tall beers though.

Mulligan’s Vero Beach

Over the weekend, Matt and I headed down to Vero Beach. We had a few lunch options, but decided to give Mulligan’s a try. They feature ocean views and have a popular patio with Adirondack chairs.

Tangierine Café Dinner – Shawarma Platter

See? I told you we love this place! After splitting a Lamb Wrap, we decided we had yet to have enough lamb. We also wanted to try something new, so we ordered the Chicken and Lamb Combo Shawarma Platter. It comes with sides of Hummus, Tabouleh, and more that delicious Tangierine Couscous Salad we had at lunch. It also is served with fresh Moroccan bread
