Celebration Food Truck Friday: September 14, 2012

Last Friday, Celebration, FL hosted its second Food Truck Friday. More trucks were added for this outing, and there was no shortage of people in attendance. The usual suspects had their long lines early, and we were excited to try food from a couple of trucks we didn’t get to experience at the first Food Truck Friday.

After walking by all the trucks and reading their menus, Matt and I decided from where we would be ordering. Matt saw two items he wanted to try from Big Wheel Provisions. For his main course, he ordered their  Marinated Roasted Tri-Tip Steak Sandwich. The sandwich is topped with slow roasted heirloom cherry tomatoes, grilled local leek, and local lettuces. For $11, Matt was impressed by the size of the sandwich. While a fair amount of greens were piled on top (he had to remove some), there were plenty of veggies underneath adorns thick slices of tri-tip.

Jiko: Light Apps at the Bar

For the past two years, we’ve stayed at Animal Kingdom Lodge for the opening weekend of Food & Wine. At some point during our stay (heck, even when we’re not staying there), we like to stop by Jiko’s bar for some evening drinks and food. One of Matt’s favorite items to order is their Grilled Wild Boar Tenderloin. It is served with Mealie Pap and Chakalaka, and finished with White Truffle Oil and Micro Cilantro.

Tambu Lounge

We’re huge fans of Tambu Lounge and never need an excuse to swing by. Whether we stop for a Backscratcher (or three) on the way to the Magic Kingdom or unwind after a day at the parks, it has a perfect location and atmosphere, especially once they get the ‘Ohana rush seated!

Tambu Lounge has one of the better evening lounge menus available (Come on, Outer Rim. Salted peanuts?!). We often find ourselves ordering our standbys, the Crisp Breads and Dips and the Honey Ginger Chicken Wings.
