While Italy’s Ravioli di Formaggio alla’Emiliana has been around for a few years (although under different names), it’s price, like many items each year at Food & Wine has increased by $1.00. The Capellini con Gamberi Piccanti I enjoyed last year is no longer on the menu, instead replaced by the Salsiccia e “Papacelli” Napoletani, also ringing in at a hefty $5.50. Last winter, while Tutto Italia was under refurbishment, some of the festival items and more could be ordered at a the kiosk, which has been reused from the festival with a few minor modifications.
Overall, the menu is pretty safe with what it features for food items. Ravioli and Sausage and Peppers aren’t exactly pushing the envelope, and I’m sure many readers who grew up around good Italian cooking won’t find these anything to write home about. Since I’d had the ravioli a few times over the past couple years, and wanted to try the new item, I ordered the Salsiccia e “Papacelli” Napoletani.
I will say that the portion of the dish was impressive. A whole link of sweet Italian sausage was served, along with several large pieces of green pepper and some onions. Half of a slice of Ciabatta bread was served on the side.
