Jiko’s Za’atar-Rubbed Lamb Wood-Fired Flatbread

One thing I love about many of the table service restaurants on Disney property is their seasonal menus. One thing that can drive me a bit batty is said seasonal menus. I love being able to be surprised by something new, but sometimes miss out on something I spot on a menu one day, only to have it disappear on my next visit. One of those items that likes to get reinvented is the flatbread.

Jiko in particular has some really fantastic wood-fired flatbreads. During my last visit, I tried their Buffalo and Pork Boerewors Sausage version. Currently there are three flatbreads available: Za’atar-rubbed Lamb, KG’s Peri-Peri Roasted Chicken and Roasted Kubota Squash and Kalamata Olive. The Za’atar-rubbed lamb is one of the options that has stood out to me for a while, and I knew I had to get over to Jiko soon to give it a try.

For something sweet, we tried the Marble Cheesecake from Studio Catering Co. in Hollywood Studios.

At Dawa Bar, we kicked back with the awesome Harambe Cooler.

We grabbed a box of Meiji Pucca Yaki Guri from Japan in Epcot.

And now for your Grand Circle Tour around the Disney Blogosphere!

Sweet and Spicy Chicken Waffle from Sleepy Hollow Refreshments

Ryan at Main Street Gazette snacks on the Rustic Ham Tartine from Boulangerie Patisserie in Epcot’s France.

Over at WDW for Grownups, Kristen shows us how to get our Bier on in Germany’s Biergarten. And to answer her question, “Yes. We can drink a liter of beer!”

Aaron shares a list of his favorite pool bars at WDW at Studios Central.

Disney Hipster Blog‘s Adam and Andrew visit Disneyland’s own Jungle Witch Doctor, Shrunken Ned. I can’t wait to visit him again in September!

Betsy shares a magical moment on a trip from a few years ago at On the Go in MCO. Also: beignets. :)

Katfrom Drinking Disney serves up a Blue Bayou from Boatwright’s Dining Hall and River Roost lounge at Port Orleans Riverside. I need to try one! She also explores the disappointing offerings for drinks at American Adventure in Epcot.

TastyChomps stops by Sleepy Hollow Refreshments for their Waffle Sandwiches.

At Disney Food Report, Brenda experiences Cinderella’s Happily Ever After dinner at Cinderella’s Royal Table in Magic Kingdom.

Scott Joseph recaps his evening at Jiko.

Rounding out the tour are these posts from the Disney Parks Blog:

Mouse Bites for March 11, 2012

It’s been a little quiet around the blog this week, thanks largely in part to moving. It cut into research time, but now we live even closer to the Magic! We’ll be returning full throttle starting tomorrow, so catch up on what you may have missed here this week, and be sure to check out the posts of our friends in the Grand Circle Tour!

This week on Eating WDW:

We kicked off the week with a Dropkick Murphys concert at House of Blues, where the Music Hall service some seriously Spicy Buffalo Chicken Tenders.

For a food that’s touted as a Fan Favorite, I heard a lot of naysayers when it come to the Jumbo Turkey Leg.

A visit to Celebration’s Imperium Food & Wine proved delicious.

Our friend Shalon shared her first installment of food photos from the Disney Dream. First port of call? Dinner at Enchanted Garden!

Snacks from Japan made an appearance with melon flavored Ramune.

Finally, we had  Disney History lesson from 1992, with Tom and Jerry hanging around Studio Catering Company at Disney-MGM Studios.

And now for your Grand Circle Tour around the Disney Blogosphere!

Orlando Attractions Magazine tweeted some photos regarding a Sweet Milk topping available on your Kaki Gori from Japan at Epcot, and there’s a new Turkey Leg T-shirt design out.

Disney Parks Blog rounds out this week with the following posts:

Jiko: Light Apps at the Bar

For the past two years, we’ve stayed at Animal Kingdom Lodge for the opening weekend of Food & Wine. At some point during our stay (heck, even when we’re not staying there), we like to stop by Jiko’s bar for some evening drinks and food. One of Matt’s favorite items to order is their Grilled Wild Boar Tenderloin. It is served with Mealie Pap and Chakalaka, and finished with White Truffle Oil and Micro Cilantro.
