Tangierine Cafe’s Cashew Baklava

Tucked away in Morocco’s Tangierine Café at Epcot, you can find a Pastries and Coffee Bar with an assortment of beverages, including coffee, beer, cocktails and even a Moroccan Mint Tea.

You can also find an assortment of pastries, including three types of Baklava: Walnut, Pistachio, and Cashew. I asked the Cast Member which one he recommended, and he suggested Cashew.

I obliged and ordered the Cashew Baklava.

Eat Like an Avenger

Okay. I’ve avoided this for a week now. I have not seen The Avengers, nor do I really care to. Matt can’t stand the super hero thing. I’m more of a Batman kind of girl, and I don’t even see those movies in the theaters. Sure, I have a small comic book collection, but they’re pretty much all on Slave Labor Graphics and feature artists like Jhonen Vasquez and Roman Dirge.  Oh, and The Hulk will always be Lou Ferrigno in my heart.  What I can’t look past is the attention the shawarma scene is getting. Just Google “the avengers shawarma” and see what I mean if you haven’t seen the movie.

At Ro Ro’s Chicken — a famed Lebanese joint in Hollywood — the manager says shawarma sales jumped 80% in the days after the movie opened. We’re told the same thing happened a few years back when a baba ghanouj joke was featured in “You Don’t Mess with the Zohan.” – TMZ

So without further ado, get out there and get some shawarma! Tangierine Cafe in Morocco at Epcot is our top pick, featuring both lamb and chicken shawarma.

Mouse Bites for January 29, 2012

It’s been crazy around these parts yet again this week! Hop on board and kick back. Hey, you have the week off from football, so procrastinate on chores with me! ;)

This week on Eating WDW:

We checked out the Limited Time Only French Dip Sandwich from Earl of Sandwich at Downtown Disney.

The Marina Margarita from the Margarita Bar at Downtown Disney satiated our need for tequila.

From the spread of Valentine’s Day treats at Goofy’s Candy Company, we instead opted for the Oreo Brownie.

A detour to I-Drive brought us to Brick House Tavern & Tap.

We spotted a fun Goofy mug in Germany, and also sampled some savory Pomsticks.

Victoria & Albert’s once again earned AAA Five Diamond Status.

It was time for sushi at Tokyo Dining!

And now for your Grand Circle Tour around the Disney Blogosphere!

Drinking Disney highly recommends the Blood Orange Margarita at La Cava del Tequila. We also get a recipe for an English Rose from Rose & Crown. We have yet to try Grandma’s Picnic Punch and the Mowie Wowie from one of our favorite places, the Tune-In Lounge!

Ryan at Main St. Gazette hits his sweet tooth at Ghirardelli Soda Fountain and Chocolate Shop with their Earthquake.

I have a feeling I’m going to be put to work in the kitchen soon, thanks to Disney Food Report‘s recipe for ‘Ohana Bread Pudding with Bananas Foster Sauce

Ready for some sake cocktails? Eating (and Drinking) around the World takes us to the new Garden House in Japan.

Disney Tourist Blog takes us across the coast to Trader Sam’s at Disneyland and provides us with a Bar Crawl Guide.

All Ears provides us with a feast with several pictures and reviews from Tangierine Cafe, Pizzafari, Kouzzina, Sunshine Seasons, The Fountain, and Flame Tree Barbecue.

Are you a fan of Tonga Toast? Disney Parks Blog shows you how to make it! You can also check out our review of it here. Disney is for the dogs with their Best Friends Pet Care Treat Truck. They share a recipe for Spinach and Artichoke dip from ESPN Zone. Finally, they introduce the Crossroads menu at House of Blues. Our thoughts on the menu can be found here.

Tangierine Cafe with First-Timers

Before watching Trace Adkins at Candlelight Processional the other night, we stopped for a quick bite with some friends at Tangierine Cafe. All table service restaurants were booked until 8pm or later, and we were too hungry to wait until then. Our friends had never eaten there before as they tend to stick to more familiar foods. The line was short and the restaurant was on our way to America Gardens Theatre, so we stopped in.

One of our friends ordered the Chicken and Lamb Shawarma Platter. I think the only item he wasn’t crazy about was the Tabouleh, which is understandable when here, parsley is seen as a garnish or seasoning incorporated in a dish, not the main component of a salad.

Tangierine Café: Lamb Shawarma Platter

As you’re all well aware, we LOVE Tangierine Café in the Morocco Pavilion at Epcot. We recently had lunch and dinner there, and we returned once again last weekend. This time we both ordered the Lamb Shawarma platter (we had the lamb and chicken combo last time). There were a few differences that I wanted to note.
