Yorkshire County Fish Shop: Side of Chips

Walking around World Showcase in Epcot, do you ever need hot quick, hot snack to tide you over until your next meal? I enjoy stopping by the Yorkshire County Fish Shop in the U.K. Pavilion (especially when I spot a short line!) for a side of chips. Much heartier and tastier than your average Disney fry, they’re a delicious and portable snack for strolling through the pavilion and perhaps taking in a show of  the World Showcase Players or British Revolution.

While the side of chips may not be on the menu, it can be ordered for around $2.99. While the tray might not appear to have too much in it, the chips are thicker than the Disney standard and there are several layers stacked filling up the dish.

The chips are fried to a golden brown, giving them a nice snap and slight crunch when you bite into them. No soggy fries here!

The interior is fluffy for a nice contrast from the exterior. There are two condiment bars on either side of the building so you can find ketchup, mustard and, my favorite here, malt vinegar. I know I’ll be stopping by again soon walking around Epcot this winter with the cooler temps!

  1. I’m not 100% positive, but I think that one of the reasons those chips are so good, they’re double fried (blanched in oil, drained, cooled, and then deep fried). Regardless, they’re very good… especially with a hearty dousing of malt vinegar!

  2. Yes, I love those! They are always good, especially with a beer!

  3. Nora – You’re probably correct as that process is what makes them so fluffy in the middle and crispy on the outside!

Ricardo – We love getting a beer in the UK pavilion! It’s usually our first stop on Epcot visits! 🙂

  4. Haven’t had them in a long time but I loved these doused with vinegar. 🙂

  5. Cherry – Me too! Vinegar just make a tasty snack even better!
