Contempo Cafe’s Strawberry Lemonade Cupcake

Many of you know we’re not big on the cupcakes found at WDW, but every once in a while we spot a flavor while we’re exploring that catches our eye. We had been snacking our way around the monorail resorts, so we decided to poke our heads into Contempo Cafe at the Contemporary Resort to see what was available. This Strawberry Lemonade Cupcake sounded pretty good, so we grabbed it to go and headed down to the pool to indulge.

We’ve sampled a few other cupcakes from Contempo Cafe in the past and have been pretty happy with them, including the Root Beer Float and Pumpkin Spiced versions. Being fans of lemonade (we always have a jug of pink lemonade in our fridge), we had some high hopes for this cupcake as well.

The rich, sweet yet slightly tart, pink frosting is edged with white chocolate shavings in pink, yellow, and orange.

The cake has a pink hue and is flecked with strawberry.

Inside the cupcake was a bright, lemon curd filling. Everything tied together well to create the strawberry lemonade flavored cupcake advertised. We’ve had some hits and misses when it comes to cupcakes we’ve tried on property, but this one was certainly a hit.

While we didn’t finish it while sitting poolside, I’ve enjoyed a forkful here and there from the fridge since bringing it home. I’m kind of surprised it lasted as long as it did. If you’re looking for a cupcake that brings some flavors of summer to your dessert, definitely look into giving this one a try!

Have you tried the Strawberry Lemonade Cupcake? What did you think of it?

  1. I hope it is some small consolation to know that every time you highlight a dessert I clap my hands with glee. 😉

I’ve never been tempted by a Contempo Cafe cupcake because the frosting always looks so light and whippy to me, and I’m a thick sugar frosting kinda gal. That having been said, I do like a good lemon curd…

  2. I’m starting to enjoy trying the “different” desserts (especially with Matt helping out!). This frosting was pretty thick on this one. And after spending the night in my fridge, SUPER thick!

  3. Why do they add chocolate shavings to everything? As someone who is repulsed by chocolate it drives me crazy and makes it hard to enjoy desserts at WDW. This cupcake sounded so yummy until that part.

  4. From a visual standpoint, it really perks the cupcake up. Most of the cupcakes I’ve had use items other than white or milk/dark chocolate shavings, though, such as sprinkles, coconut, or leaving them plain.

  5. While I love sweets, cupcakes have sometimes proved to be too sweet. But one thing is for sure, Disney cupcakes are always pretty to look at! 🙂

  6. I liked this one since I didn’t find it overwhelmingly sweet. It was definitely refreshing because some I’ve struggled to take more than one bite!
