Drinks at Coronado Springs’ Laguna Bar

Located just outside El Centro, the main hub of Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort, you’ll find Laguna Bar. The bar is situated on Lago Dorado, and apart from bar seating, you’ll also find several tables and chairs. Because Coronado Springs has a convention center as well, the bar seems to lure convention-goers and makes for great peoplewatching.

The menus (click for larger) feature Signature Cocktails, Margaritas, Sangria, and other frozen drinks. A selection of food is also available, with several items appearing to be grab-and-go from nearby Cafe Rix.

Matt and I were just stopping by for drinks though. I anticipated him just ordering a beer, but instead he ordered the Blood Orange Margarita. The drink features Tequila, Triple Sec, Blood Orange, Agave Nectar and Lime. He was afraid it might end up being too sweet, but was happy that it was well-balanced and had a bit of tartness to it. It was similar to the one you can find at La Cava del Tequila, La Cava’s is a bit more developed in flavor. Still, it was a very good drink.

I ordered the Sangria Rioja, featuring Cabernet, Cointreau, Guava, Agave Nectar, Passion Fruit, Mango, Fruit and Sprite. There was a lot going on in this drink from an ingredient standpoint, and the fruit flavors became a bit muddled and lost. The Cabernet flavor was prominent, as well as the citrus from the Cointreau. The additional fruit juices only seemed to add some sweetness and something mildly fruity. The Sprite gave the drink a touch of bubbles. Regardless, it was still an enjoyable drink.

Both of the drinks were very good and worthy of ordering again, though there are several other cocktails on the menu that I could see myself trying. It was nice to enjoy a leisurely cocktail and relax with a surprisingly cool breeze off the lake, especially in the heat we’ve been having lately. Coronado Springs is a bit out of the way for most guests, but if you find yourself at the resort, consider treating yourself to a drink (perhaps before or after a nice lunch at Las Ventanas).

Have you enjoyed a drink at Laguna Bar at Coronado Springs? Do you have a favorite cocktail you like from the menu?
