Olaf Gingerbread Shingle

Over the weekend, I made my way to the Contemporary Resort and spent a bit of time wandering the gift shops. Since my day on property was coming to an end, I bought one of the Olaf Gingerbread Shingles being sold at the Frozen Gingerbread Ice Castle display to bring home.

The shingle is stamped with an outline of Olaf and decorated with pearl dust and a candy carrot nose.

The shingle itself is very soft due to a relatively high moisture content. Here you can see how easily it bends.

The cookie has quite a bit of chew to it as well. The ginger flavor was strong, and it’s not a flavor of which I’m very fond (I bought this knowing Matt would probably enjoy it). There was also almost no sweetness to the shingle, which I think could have brought a bit of balance. Overall, it’s not something I’d buy again.

Have you tried any of the gingerbread treats from the resorts selling them? What are your thoughts?

  1. Sarah, I completely agree with your analysis. I normally like gingerbread cookies, but this one lacked the sweetness necessary to counter the bitterness. I really wanted to enjoy it, but it just didn’t do it for me.

  2. With honey being the first ingredient, I was really hoping for some more sweetness.

  3. That was my thought exactly. It sounds like we are on the same page with this one.
