A couple of months ago, I paid a visit to Trattoria al Forno for breakfast and enjoyed the Cured Italian Meats. I was interested in returning to try another dish there, so I made a late morning reservation.
Having ordered the Rossini on my last visit, I this time opted for the Peach Bellini, featuring Ruffino Prosecco with White Peach Puree. I thought it was decent, but I prefer the Rossini over it.
For my meal, I ordered the Poached Eggs with Fennel Sausage, Parmesan, and Tomato Gravy served over soft Polenta. I’ve recently started to take a liking to poached eggs, especially when served alongside good bread, which Trattoria has.
The portion of creamy polenta was quite large, and a fair amount of sausage was sprinkle around the dish. Shaved Parmesan added some additional salt to the tomato gravy.
The eggs were nicely poached, adding an additional layer of richness to the dish.
I really like the bread here, lightly toasted to help soak up the eggs.
My late breakfast saw a fairly quiet dining room. My server was attentive and it seemed the pace of the meal went faster than last time. I’ve heard a lot of complaints that service takes forever, and I’ve experienced some snags at both breakfast and dinner. Perhaps things are smoothing over a bit – it takes restaurants a few months to do this, after all. I’d like to return for breakfast with Matt in the future (and I wouldn’t mind a dinner revisit, either). I recommend the breakfast service at Trattoria al Forno, especially for a pre-Epcot meal (just budget your time).
