Harambe Market: Ground Beef Kabob Flatbread

We’re back today with our third and final installment of our review from Harambe Market (here are part one and part two). This time, we’re ordering from the Grill. As I mentioned earlier, guests can order the items on the Grill or Boerewors Sausages menus from either of the two windows since they share a kitchen. The ribs are their own entity.

The two adult entrees offered from the Grill are the Grilled Chicken Skewer and the Ground Beef Kabob Flatbread. Like the Boerewors Sausage, the entrees are served with Roasted Broccoli and Tomato Salad (see our thoughts on that here). I saw several guests with the Chicken Skewer, and they didn’t seem very impressed by it. Now, I can’t judge it myself as I didn’t order it, but I will say that I’m glad I went with the Ground Beef Kabob flatbread.

First off, the portion was impressive for the price. The flatbread (sandwich version – this term is used interchangeably at WDW between sandwiches using flatbread and using it pizza-style) was a large piece of flatbread, folded in half, and cut in half. Each half had two pieces of thin, ground beef patties. They tasted of shawarma seasonings and we were happy they weren’t dried out. Rounding out the sandwich was a tzaziki-style sauce with cucumber, diced tomatoes, and shredded lettuce.

This was Matt’s favorite of the three dishes we tried by a landslide. I have to say, it was my favorite, too. It was by no means the best in terms of shawarma we’ve had (and we have some great places here in Orlando for it), but it was hitting the spot. The veggies on the sandwich weren’t the most vibrant, but the overall flavor and texture was decent, perhaps a little bit heavy on the sauce. With all the other food we were trying, we couldn’t finish it, but Matt put a good dent in one half. We could definitely split this in the future.

So of the three items we tried, here are our verdicts:

2. Chef Mwanga’s Spice-rubbed Karubi Ribs (A close tie with #3, but he liked the ribs slightly more since he’s not big on corn dogs or curry)
