Recently at Disney Springs, Vivoli Il Gelato opened its doors. The shop is located in The Landing area of Disney Springs/Downtown Disney, across from The BOATHOUSE and Paradiso 37.
The shop features a large selection of gelato and sorbets, and also offer some pastries and panini.
The panini are served cold from the case. I ordered a Prosciutto e Mascarpone to bring home for Matt and me to try.
I ordered a small cup of gelato, and was informed that I could choose two flavors. I chose Salted Caramel and Hazelnut. From what I recall being told, the blue-handled scoops mean it is both gluten and dairy free, while the white handles mean it may contain gluten and/or dairy. It was suggested I try the peach sorbet, and it was very good with a bright, peachy flavor, but a bit sweet for my liking.
It was a scorcher out, so it was a bit of a race against the clock to eat it before it turned into soup. I really enjoyed both of the flavors I selected, and they had just the right amount of sweetness for my preferences.
The Prosciutto e Mascarpone Panino was a nice addition to my order. The bread was a touch on the dry side, but that’s somewhat expected when it’s sitting out in a cooler. I would certainly order it again if I was looking for a light, salty snack, but gelato is what these guys do best.
Vivoli il Gelato is a nice addition to Disney Springs, and I know I’ll be stopping by on my visits to the area in the future. I do see it being pricey for a family to visit – my small gelato and single panino, with tax, came in just under $10. A family of 4 having a small cup of gelato each would ring in over $20, so it would be a treat to go. However, I do think the quality is there, and the employees are incredibly nice and enthusiastic, making for an overall pleasant experience. I’m on the side of quality versus quantity, so this shop fits the bill.
