Gardens Kiosk’s Farmer’s Salad

Garden Kiosk

In addition to the recently added Baked Lobster Macaroni & Cheese that was added to the menu at Beastly Kiosk, the Gardens Kiosk also made some changes. Also known as the “Allergy-friendly” kiosk (see former menu here), they recently became home to two new salads. The Trek Power Salad features Quinoa, Beets, Edamame, and Citrus, while the Farmer’s Salad features Blueberries, Goat Cheese, and Candied Pecans.

At the ordering window, a display shows what each of the salads looks like. They are also prepared to order (at least mine was), so you don’t have to worry about the greens getting saturated and wilting.

My salad was pretty on point to the display. Unfortunately, that also means that $5.49 buys you half of a takeout container of salad.

Don’t get me wrong – the salad itself was tasty and refreshing, with a light vinaigrette, a decent amount of goat cheese (yum!), crunchy pecans, and just-sweet-enough blueberries. The portion of those items was fair, I just felt a little more lettuce would have improved my thoughts on this salad.

This salad shouldn’t really top $4.00 based on Disney pricing. The (comparably-sized) snack-sized Kale Salad at Flower & Garden is $3.50, and the meal-sized Watermelon Salad at Flame Tree Barbecue is $8.99.

Yes, the salad was indeed delicious. But it was not $5.49 delicious. If you perhaps have Snack Credits from the Disney Dining Plan to burn, go for it. But I don’t think shelling out cash is a good use of your hard earned dollars. This either needs at least more greens, or the price needs to drop for me to order it again.

Have you tried either of the Gardens Kiosk’s new salads? Which one did you order, and what did you think of it?
